Program
The stage setup of Duo Pertars, with all its diverse instruments, suggests a larger ensemble: A marimba, the size of a grand piano, and a vibraphone form the framework, with a Chinese bass drum in the center next to several different guitars. There are also smaller drums such as the snare drum, djembe, and darbuka. And last but not least, two unusual instruments that the audience rarely sees: a Chinese moon lute next to a Chinese dulcimer, which is very similar to a cimbalom. The music is as diverse as the instrumentation. With each new instrumental constellation, the musical direction also changes.

„Moon – Moon – 月亮“ A Night in the Imperial Palace
With Sven Holger Philippsen (Narrator)
With their program „Moon – Moon – 月亮 – A Night in the Imperial Palace,“ the narrator and the duo take children on a journey to the „Middle Kingdom.“ Loosely based on H. C. Andersen’s „The Emperor’s Nightingale,“ the text is about a journey back in time to China 700 years ago, more fairytale-like than historical.
The musical program consists of arrangements of Chinese songs and compositions by Duo Pertar, played on a diverse range of instruments: On stage, there will be a dagu (Chinese bass drum), a yangqin (Chinese dulcimer), and a ruan (Chinese moon lute), along with an electric guitar, a vibraphone, and smaller percussion instruments and a water pipe.
